Steamed Asparagus with butter drizzle is one of my family's favorite sides. I cook this so it still has a slight crunch and fresh taste. Don't overcook or it becomes soft and soggy. Make this as a side today. #sonomnom4u #steadmasparaguswithbutterdrizzle
Steamed Asparagus w/Butter Drizzle
1 bunch fresh asparagus
3 TBSP butter, melted
3 cloves garlic, minced
dash of garlic salt
In a small saucepan, add garlic and butter. Melt and cook 1 minute. remove from heat and set aside.
Wash the asparagus and cut about 2-3 inches of the ends off. It seems like a lot but the ends get tough and are much better cut off. Discard the ends.
In a medium saucepan, add a 1/2 cup of water and a steamer rack.
Place asparagus on the rack and bring the pot to a boil.
When water below the aspragus starts to boil, put the lid on the pot and boil for about 2 minutes. Check the doneness--you want a little crunch--NO MUSH. Asparagus sizes vary so start with 2 minutes, and work your way to 5 minutes (in case your stalks are thicker!) Turn off heat and let the asparagus steam for another minute without the heat on, but leave the lid on.
When asparagus is done, use tongs and remove them from the pot and place them on a plate. Drizzle melted butter over asparagus and sprinkle with garlic salt. Using tongs, toss the spears a little to mix the butter and garlic salt into all spears.
Serve hot!
