A long, long time ago Panera (Stl. Bread Company) used to have an Asiago Roast Beef Sandwich that was to die for! They removed it from their menu many years ago but I have since decided to add it our our menu! Its not exactly the same, but dang, it's delicious! #SoNomNom4u #AsiagoRoastBeef
Sandwich:
1 Asiago Focaccia (we get ours from Panera)
1.5 lb. Deli Roast Beef
4 slices Sharp Cheddar
1/4 cup Horsey Sauce (see below)
1 shallot or red onion, sliced
4 large leaves of lettuce
Horsey Sauce:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 TBSP fresh squeezed lemon juice
3 TBSP Prepared Horseradish
1 tsp salt
Directions:
Cut open the focaccia bread by carefully standing it up on the side and slicing down the entire circle. When you are done you should have a top and bottom circle. Put it back together and cut off each of the 4 round edges to make a perfect square. Set aside.
Horsey Sauce Directions:
In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, lemon juice, prepared horseradish and salt until it is well blended.
Sandwich Assembly Directions:
Take the top and bottom square of bread and spread horsey sauce all over the top and bottom in the quantitiy you desire.
On the bottom piece, layer a nice amount of roast beef then on top of the roast beef, place the lettuce. On top of the lettuce, place the onions/shallots. Now, put the lid on top. Cut the sandwich in 4 by cutting it in the center vertically and then cut it in the center horizontally. Now, place a slice of cheese on each sandwich and serve with a side of potato chips.
