Granola

Updated: Oct 8, 2020

This Granola is a staple snack item in our family! Does your child's school ask for a healthy, non-sticky snack for your child? This is perfect! Make a big batch and keep it in an airtight container. Then, throw some in a zipper bag for their backpack! We use natural peanut butter and pure maple syrup, but you can, of course, substitute the natural peanut butter with regular peanut butter and the real maple syrup with maple flavor syrup. #sonomnom4u #granola #vegetarian

5 cups Old Fashioned Rolled Oats

2 cups Natural Peanut Butter (we use Smuckers Natural)

2 cups Pure Maple Syrup (we buy it at Sams--Members Mark)

1 cup chopped cashews (or any nut!)

2 tsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350° F

Mix peanut butter, cashew pieces and syrup in a large bowl. (If you use crunchy peanut butter, you have even more crunch!)

Add oats to the wet mixture, and stir until well blended. This takes some muscle!

Line a very large (I use 16"x12") baking sheet with foil or parchment. Pour all the granola into the baking sheet and spread it all around to cover the entire bottom.

Bake 30 minutes. Remove from oven and break it with a spatula. if it still seems soft, bake for another 10 minutes and check it again.

Remove from oven and pour out onto a large piece of parchment and let cook. Break into pieces and store in an airtight plastic or glass container with a lid. Add m&m candies or chocolate chips for a special touch! Granola will gain crunch as it cools.
