Many recipes call for clarified butter. It sounds complicated but it really is quite a basic process. Make a bunch and store it in your refrigerator so you have it when you need it. Clarified butter stores well in an airtight jar at room temp for 6 months, or in an air tight jar in the refrigerator for 1 year. Clarified Butter:
1 stick of butter
Clarified Butter Directions:
Melt 1 stick of butter over low heat. Do not stir! Set aside to cool a little bit and let it settle. Gently pour the top layer of the butter into a separate dish, making sure the milky white layer stays in the pot. Discard white. The top is clarified butter.
NOTE: Clarified Butter with harden in the refrigerator and be liquid at room temp.
